“2019-nCoV” is a coronavirus, which is a family of viruses that include the common cold, and viruses such as SARS and MERS. It has been first identified in Wuhan City, Hubei Province of China (11 million habs.), at the beginning of the year, and it did not match any other known virus.
Till the date, there are about 4.000 infected people in China and other 11 countries (January, 28th).
Current estimates of the incubation period of the virus range from 2-10 days.
The symptoms described for the so-called Wuhan pneumonia, caused by the new coronavirus, are fever and fatigue, accompanied by dry cough and, in many cases, dyspnea (difficulty breathing).
To prevent infection, WHO recommends “regular hand washing, covering your mouth and nose when you are coughing and sneezing, and avoiding close contact with people who show symptoms of respiratory diseases, such as coughing or sneezing.”
The growing concern about the situation of the Coronavirus pandemic is generated because when a virus is new, we don’t know how it affects people.
Certest Biotec is now developing “VIASURE 2019-nCoV Real time PCR kit” and planning to launch it in the next few weeks.
