Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are a major public health problem worldwide, affecting quality of life and causing serious morbidity and mortality. In particular, gonorrhoea and chlamydia are two conditions which represent the most common bacterial STI.

VIASURE N. gonorrhoeae + C. trachomatis Real Time PCR Detection Kit is a real time PCR assay designed for the simultaneous qualitative detection and identification of DNA from N. gonorrhoeae and/or C. trachomatis, from urethral urine, urethral swabs, rectal swabs, endocervical swab/exudate, vaginal and oropharyngeal swabs samples of individuals suspected of gonorrhoea and/or chlamydia diseases, by their healthcare professional (HCP).

This test is intended for use as an aid in the diagnosis of N. gonorrhoeae and/or C. trachomatis infection, in combination with clinical and epidemiological risk factors.

DNA is extracted from clinical specimens, amplified using real time PCR, and detected using fluorescent reporter dye probes specific for N. gonorrhoeae and/or C. trachomatis.
